Mary Emma Ramona Maxine Childress

Maxine Childress, of Groesbeck, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at the Limestone Medical Center in Groesbeck, at age 79. Mary Emma Ramona Maxine Raglin was born January 14, 1932 to James Raglin and Olive Marie (Watson) Raglin in Tinsman, Arkansas. She grew up and attended school in Arkansas. Maxine moved to Groesbeck, from Gilmer, about thirty years ago. She worked about fifteen years in Groesbeck as a caregiver for various patients, including Mrs. Scott Reed and Mr. Charlie Harrison. Maxine was a big Elvis fan, having seen him perform in person in East Texas, and always enjoyed listening to his records. She also loved to read. She was a wonderful Mom and Grandmother, who was always willing to sacrifice and help her family in every way she could. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents;a brother, Bill Raglin;her sister, Carol Caffey; and sons-in-law, Kenneth (Buster) Young and Tony Chambliss. She is survived by a daughter, Annita Childress of Groesbeck; daughter, Carolyn Young of Groesbeck; son, Lloyd Childress of Orange; daughter, Teena Fountain and husband Jackie of Joaquin; 7 grandsons: Tory Chambliss and wife Laila of Joaquin, Titus Chambliss and wife Wendi of Joaquin, Thatcher Chambliss of Joaquin, Chris Young of Groesbeck, Troy Young and wife Lesle of McGregor, Matthew Young and wife Jennifer of Houston, and Tim Childress of Mauriceville; 6 granddaughters: Taylor Baez and husband David of Jacksonville, Leah Phillips and husband Shawnn of Farrar, Mary Peeler and husband Greg of Longview, Kelli Young of Groesbeck, Molly Young of Longview, and Amy Young and husband Tony Young of Orange; and 23 great grandchildren; and her dog, Lucy Lu.
