Sharon Ann Miller

February 18, 1943 — November 30, 2012

Sharon Ann Miller, of Groesbeck, passed away at Windsor Nursing Home on Friday, November 30, 2012. The family will be holding a private memorial service on Saturday. Sharon was born February 18, 1943 in Gallipolis, Ohio, to James Alden Nibert and Edith Gail (Clark) Nibert. She graduated from school in Gallipolis, and in August 1961, she was united in marriage with Hiram Earl Miller. He was in the Marine Corp, so the family had the opportunity during his career to live in Cuba, Hawaii, Ohio, South Carolina and primarily in North Carolina. The family has a lot of fond memories of all the travels and people they met. Sharon always worked in retail management in their various locations, even in Cuba. After becoming a widow in 1997, she moved to Groesbeck in 1998 to be near her family. In Groesbeck, she worked at both the Family Dollar and General Dollar stores until health problems made it difficult for her to be on her feet all day. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Thornton. She was very proud of her children and her granddaughter, and had a very special and unique bond with her great grandson, Layne, even before he was born. Layne loved visiting his Granny the past four years she was residing in the Windsor Nursing Home and she loved his visits. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, James and Edith Nibert; her husband Hiram Miller; and a sister, Janet Sullivan. She is survived by her son, James Miller of Dallas; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Jeff Rivers of Thornton; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Amethyst and John Skinner of Corsicana; great grandson, Layne Skinner of Corsicana; and her sister, Karen Williams of Springfield, Ohio; four nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
