Mildred Lucille Janes

July 12, 1924 — February 21, 2013

Mildred Janes (born Mildred Lucille Greene) was born July 12, 1924, and called home February 21, 2013. She grew up in Lawton, Oklahoma where she met and married the love of her life, George W. Janes. She loved to play the piano and even played at her own wedding while George accompanied her in song. While raising her four children, "Millie" was actively involved in the Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, garden clubs, hospital volunteer programs, Methodist Church, and community service projects. She enjoyed gardening, walking, reading, writing, fishing, playing the piano, and the company of good friends. During her 88 years, Millie lived in and served the communities of: Woodstock, IL; Downers Grove, IL; Bluffton, IN; and Grand Lake at Grove, OK. When George passed away, Millie moved to Lake Limestone. She enjoyed living at Lake Limestone and was able to enjoy wildlife and serenity of the lake. Millie spent her final years at Windsor Healthcare Residence in Groesbeck, Texas. She came to love many of the staff and residents. Millie was a devoted wife and mother. She always found time for her children, and she prayed for them daily. With a quick wit and great sense of humor, she delighted in making her children laugh. Their laughter was her favorite sound. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, George "Bill" Janes; her parents, Florence and Sgt. C.C. Weatherford; and a sister, Mytle Jinks. Surviving are her children: daughter, Nancy Mabry of Boise, ID; daughter, Beverly Behringer and husband Randy of Groesbeck, TX; son, Rodger Janes and wife Nance of Belle, MO; and son, Edward Janes and wife Susan of LaPorte, IN. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Millie was a wonderful counselor and friend. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
