Cecilia Anne Baldwin

March 8, 1946 — June 6, 2013

Cecilia Anne Baldwin, of Groesbeck, passed away at Providence Hospital in Waco, on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at age 67. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 9, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M at the Groesbeck Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, June 10, 2013, at the Church of Christ in Groesbeck, with Brother Coy Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Parker Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Collen Robertson, Todd Neyland, Gary Smith, Michael Rusnak, Massimo Baffetti, Sammy Powell, Richard Lide, and Robert Busby. Cecilia was born March 8, 1946, to Cecil Herbert Dugan and Ethel Mae (Kirby) Dugan in Groesbeck, delivered at home by Dr. Riggs. Cecilia was a true Groesbeck Goat student and lifetime fan, graduating in the Class of 1964. Right out of high school, she went to work at Varo in Mexia. Cecilia married James Earl Baldwin on July 2, 1967. They lived in Groesbeck and Mart while he was in college, and then in Axtell where he taught one year, and then they moved to Seale. She went to work at the Mexia State School Credit Union, working there until 1980. Cecilia then took the job of Tax Assessor-Collector for the Leon ISD, and also drove a school bus until 1991 (making her son sit on the front seat to watch him closely until he was old enough to get his driver’s license.) She and her daughter, Kristi moved to Thornton, and she worked at the Mexia State School about five years, and then was manager of the Fairway Group Home. Cecilia always loved her clients, and she enjoyed taking them and her kids to see the Harlem Globe Trotters every year. In 1996, she moved to Groesbeck. She had been working for Centex Association for Remarkable Citizens the last sixteen years, and was totally dedicated to her job as well as her clients. Cecilia enjoyed making ceramics with her own molds and kiln, giving them to family and friends. She also made jewelry and painted wood items which she sold at the Groesbeck Craft Show. Cecilia was a member of the Shiloh Church of Christ. She loved her children, and grandchildren dearly. Cecilia had more "adopted” children than her own two children, who all called her Mom; her 4 grandchildren, and their friends, called her “Nana.” She remained a die-hard Groesbeck Goat all her life, singing the fight song with her grandchildren. She attended Friday night football games, and every event of the grandchildren, including all their ball games and rodeos. One of her favorite things was watching the Elvis movie “Girl Happy” every night with her grandson, Kade, who she called her “punker.” Cecilia fought through her illness silently, without letting her family and friends know the extent of her illness, and kept working until she had to enter the hospital last week. Her greatest comfort was her green chair, which became her TV chair, eating chair, and sleeping chair. Cecilia was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Lori Baldwin of Groesbeck; daughter, Kristi Watson of Groesbeck; granddaughter, Emily Watson of Groesbeck; grandsons, Ty Baldwin, Trace Baldwin, and Kade Watson of Groesbeck; brother, Mike Dugan of Bremond, brother and sister-in-law, Lanny and Molly Dugan of Holland; and sister, Lisa Lide of Axtell; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews with whom she was very close.
