Nelda Jean Popejoy of the Shiloh community, passed away Friday, March 21, 2014 in Parkview Regional Hospital in Mexia, at age 79.Visitation will be held Monday, March 24, 2014 from 6-8 PM at the Groesbeck Funeral Home.Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 2:00  PM in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Richard Williams of the Groesbeck Church of Christ officiating.  Burial will follow at Hogan Cemetery.Pallbearers will be H.G. Wilson, Carlton Weishun, Kenneth Baker, Scott Wilson, Charles Self, Orlando Oviedo and Dillan Terry.  Nelda was born in Groesbeck December 3, 1934 to Herbert Voshiel and Cora (Boid) Wilson and attended school in Groesbeck.  She married James Popejoy, and while they lived in Dallas, she worked as administrator of North Haven Nursing Center for twenty years.   After she retired in 1989, they moved back to Limestone County and lived in Shiloh. Nelda worked for seventeen years as transit supervisor for Limestone County Senior Citizen Center in Groesbeck. Nelda enjoyed gardening with James and sewing, cross-stitch and making quilts. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Nelda was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dorothy Baker; a brother, Herbert Wilson; her husband, James Popejoy; and her son, Larry James Popejoy in 2013.She is survived by her daughter, Linda Jones and husband Bobby of Groesbeck; grandchildren, Christy Cooper of Hamshire, Brandy Weishun and husband Carlton of Garland, Courtney Abbott and Lora Abbott and husband Orlando; a brother Dale Wilson and his wife Johnnie of Groesbeck and also leaves behind 10 great-grandchildren and a host of friends in the Limestone County community.
