Marion "Pops" Noble Rankin

Marion Noble Rankin, of Groesbeck, passed away at Windsor Healthcare Residence on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at age 89. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, August 1, 2014, at Earthman's Resthaven Cemetery in Houston. Marion was born May 5, 1925 to Chester Arthur Rankin and Edith Olsen Rankin in Monticello, Illinois. Growing up on a farm, he continued farming after completing school until his marriage. Marion was united in marriage with Wanda Mae Lou Lovett on July 23, 1951 in Illinois. They raised eight children and lived in various states, New York for the longest period, while he worked in the healthcare field as a nurse. His wife passed away in 1990, and he moved to Groesbeck to be near family about seven years ago. Marion, called “Pops” by all who knew him, was a godly and strong Christian man who practiced his faith in his home-life with much prayer and Bible reading. He was a family man, dedicated husband and loving father of his eight children. He gave of his self all his life to others –those he took care of in his work, and his family. Mr.Rankin was preceded in death by his parents; his two brothers and one sister; and his wife. He is survived by three sons, Ronald Rex Rankin of Bohenia, NY, Robert Wayne Rankin of Groesbeck; and Richard Lee Rankin of Spring, TX; and five daughters: Diana Carole Wieberg of Sugarland, Edith Lynn Prestwood of Conroe, Kimberly Mae Ferguson and husband John Ferguson of Groesbeck, Alma Renee Sharp of Conroe, and Lori Ann Duque and husband Alan Duque of Groesbeck. He also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
