Jones L. Simmons

Jones Simmons of Kosse passed away at his home Saturday, September 6, 2008. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 P.M. Monday, September 8, 2008 at the Groesbeck Funeral Home. Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at Ebenezer Cemetery with Bro. Charles Boren officiating. Jones was born in Rockdale, Texas on June 28, 1935 to Dewey J. and Fannie A. (Haggard) Simmons. He enjoyed ranching and raising cattle for many years. Jones is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Brenda Simmons and son, Bruce W. Arnold, Jr., and a nephew, Christopher Luetge. Mr. Simmons is survived by his wife, Jeannette (Arnold) Simmons of Kosse, TX; sons, Jimmy Simmons of Livingston, TX, Larry Arnold of Magnolia, TX, and Robert Arnold of Houston, TX; daughters, Sandra Startz of Sugar Land, TX and Tammy Hester of Deer Park, TX; and eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Gladys Simmons Lynn and husband J.M. Lynn of Lexington, TX, Nola Simmons Luetge of Burton, TX, and Mary Simmons Witte and husband Jerry of Brenham, TX, and five nieces and two nephews. Pallbearers include Damon Cook, Lemon Cox, Ted Culpepper, John Wesley Lauderdale, Alan Simmons, Ray Ooley, R.L. Simmons, Jr., Joe Fuselier; and honorary pallbearers, Wade Frazier and David Shaw.
