It was Henry’s request to be cremated, which will take place later after funeral services. Fellowship and a meal will be held after the service at West Lake Limestone Volunteer Fire Department, south of Old Union. Everyone is invited to come for a meal and recall Henry’s life and share fellowship with the family. Henry was born August 21, 1945 to Calvin Hubert Davis and Ara Young (Sandford) Davis in Groveton. He graduated from Corrigan Camden High School in the class of 1963. Henry worked in the oil and gas equipment manufacturing industry all his life. He was very smart and self-trained in his work, beginning as a machinist and working his way up to production manager over a twenty-year period, before going to work for Drill Quip in the Houston area. He retired from Drill Quip as a manufacturing engineer. Henry was united in marriage with Sheryl Elaine Barnett on January 25, 1997 in Las Vegas, NV. After spending time at his deer lease at Dew, Henry and Sheryl decided they wanted property in this part of the country, and bought property near Lake Limestone in 1995. They have lived at the “Davis Ranch” since 2000, where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating, and also riding his Honda “Trike”. Henry and Sheryl made annual trips to Bandera on the trike for several years, meeting his sons and many of their friends at the Coyote Ranch. He especially enjoyed having the grandchildren and great grandchildren visit him at the Davis ranch, and teaching them to hunt and gun safety. Henry looked forward every morning to going to the Lake Limestone store for coffee and visiting with his regular group of friends. He did not want to miss going to the store. He loved to debate on any subject, and he also loved being in charge. He was a happy person and made friends with everyone. He also enjoyed serving his community as volunteer fireman with the West Lake Limestone Fire Department. He was instrumental in designing the new fire station and spent considerable time in helping it come into existence, as well as serving as Assistant Fire Chief for many years. He was a kind and good hearted man who will be missed by family, friends and the community. Henry was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Devin Charles Lynn Davis. He is survived by his wife, Sheryl Davis of Thornton; mother-in-law, Alma Farley of Huffman; sons, James Davis of Austin and Richard Davis of Dayton; daughter-in-law, Kim Hollje and her husband, Larry of Dayton; grandchildren: Brittany Davis of Dayton, Falysha and husband Brian Ramaeka of Benton, LA, Jaycee and husband Daniel Canter of New Mexico, Skylar Davis of Forney; great grandchildren, Dayton Ramaeka and Sebastian Ramaeka of Benton, LA, and Hunter Canter of New Mexico; his sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Billy Singletary of Corrigan; brother, David Davis of Moscow, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. A special word of thanks and gratitude goes to Brazos Valley Hospice for their wonderful care of Henry. Donations may be made to the Brazos Valley Hospice and their partnership with “U Paint-It” in Bryan, TX., or the Scleroderma Foundation,or any volunteer fire department of your choice.
