Hester (Raborn) (Eady) Ellis

Hestor (Raborn)(Eady) Ellis, of Corsicana and formerly lifelong resident of Groesbeck and Limestone County, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2014 at the Sterling House in Corsicana, after having lived one hundred and one years and four months. Visitation will be Monday, November 3, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at the Pavilion at Faulkenberry Cemetery, with Reverend Tracy Sims of the Central Baptist Church of Thornton officiating. Hester was born July 2, 1913 to Jesse Louis Raborn and Zerrilda (Rasco) Raborn in rural Limestone County, and lived most of her adult life in Groesbeck. She married Otis Eady on January 4, 1933 and they raised their three sons in Groesbeck. She worked at the Mexia State School as a shift supervisor from the late fifties until she retired. After Mr. Eady passed away in 1960, she eventually met her second husband, Reginald (CR) Ellis, who was also an employee at the Mexia State School. They were married April 24, 1961, and lived in Groesbeck. She claimed that her twenty-eight years with Mr. Ellis were among the happiest of her life. Hester was a quilter and a seamstress. She enjoyed making clothes for herself, her grandchildren, and even her granddaughter’s dolls, and she really enjoyed teaching her granddaughters to sew. She also loved to travel, and made several bus tours with the Senior groups and enjoyed visiting in other states with family as well as visiting her son in Germany. Hester was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 810 of Groesbeck, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Groesbeck. She moved to the Sterling House Assisted Living Center in Corsicana in 1998, and loved playing 42 for many years with her friends there. Mrs. Ellis was preceded in death by her parents; a son, James Eady; both husbands, Otis Eady and Reginald Ellis; all six of her brothers and sisters, Emma Raborn Rasco, Pete Raborn, Mae Raborn Peyton, Otis Raborn, Dora Raborn, Isaac Raborn; and many nieces and nephews. She is survived by a son, Ray Eady of Benton, AR; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Jean Eady of Ozark, AL; granddaughters, Lisa Eady Bono and her husband Gary of Benton, AR; Renee Eady Bartoy of Enterprise, AL, Amanda Eady Shears and her husband Jeremy of Wintergarden, FL, and Samantha Eady Thompson and her husband Wade of Lakeland, FL; grandsons, Daniel Eady of Bremerton, WA, and Scott Eady of League City, TX; great grandchildren, Daphne Bono, Delaney Bono, Zakary Cadena, Madeline Eady, Aureila Shears, Julian Shears, Eban Shears, Justin Thompson, and Jered Thompson. Among her surviving nieces and nephews are Rubynel Pelham of Groesbeck, Elmer Glenn Raborn of Junction City, KS, Sarah Peyton Long and her husband Harrison, Richard Peyton and his wife Irene, and Leon Raborn. Stepchildren are Shirley Ellis Nanny of Corsicana, Jean Ellis Schroeder of Rio Rancho, NM, and Charlie Ray Ellis of Tellico Plains, TN. Step grandchildren are Mark Nanny and his wife Jan of Corsicana, Rob Nanny and his wife Becky of Waxahachie, Randy Nanny and his wife Lisa of Corsicana, Tracy Greenlee of Norman, OK, Roger Beebe of Midland, TX, Terry Beebe of Enid, OK, and Jason Ellis of Bastrop, TX; and also 11 step great grandchildren and 2 step great-great grandchildren.
