Myrna was born on February 7, 1935 to William Greenlee Eddins and Willie Mae (Haynie) Eddins in Concord. She grew up in Concord, where she had a special relationship with her close cousins. Myrna graduated from Centerville High School and had been a volleyball player. Myrna lived the earlier half of her adult life in Houston, and was employed at Brown and Root. She worked many years as a personnel records administrator, until she took medical retirement in 1986. Myrna was introduced to Joe Ray Brown from Thornton through mutual friends and they were married in December 1983. They lived in Conroe until moving back to the Thornton area, where they were loving partners, and she was a faithful caregiver. Myrna became a part of the Oletha and Old Union communities and made many friends. She was always involved with the grandchildren, attending all of their school games and events. She also stayed greatly involved in the lives of her niece, great nephews and great-great nieces. Myrna was a member of the Central Baptist Church of Thornton, and she was an active member of the choir, and enjoyed attending Bible classes and other church activities. Also, Myrna had a fine reputation for her baking, with many people loving “Miss Myrna’s Buttermilk Pie” which she baked regularly for her family’s restaurant, The Branding Iron in Marquez, and for church gatherings. Her family also loved these as well as her chocolate meringue pies. She was a generous person, with a servant’s heart, whether giving gifts or other acts of kindness in her community. Myrna was preceded in death by her parents, William and Willie Mae Eddins; infant brother William; twin sister at childbirth, Verna Joy; sister, Mary Jo Rougeou and her husband George; brother, Hubert Stanley Eddins; close cousin, Rita Payne; and her stepson, Brandon Brown. She is survived by her husband, Joe Ray Brown of Thornton; niece, Deborah Simecek and her husband Larry of Deer Park; great nephews, Nathan Simecek of Deer Park and his daughters, Riley and Ansley and their mother Kimberly, Micah Simecek and wife Meghan of Pearland and daughter Macie, and Philip Simecek and his fiancée, Courtney of Deer Park. She is also survived by stepson Steve Brown and his wife Janelle of Mexia; granddaughters, Brittany Brown of Tyler, and Kathleen Vincent and her husband Jason of Groesbeck; grandsons, Keith Brown of Groesbeck and Clint Brown of Waco; and great grandsons, Braden Ramirez and Gage Vincent of Groesbeck; and close cousins Peggy Bell and Linda Noey.
