Tony Dean Smith

Tony Dean Smith of Thornton passed away at age 52 on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at St. Catherine Center in Waco. Visitation will be Thursday, June 18, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Groesbeck Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, June 19, 2015 at the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at King Cemetery outside of Thornton, Texas. Pallbearers will be Clint Parker, Johnny Bell, Butchy Herring, Chris Aills, Keith Sherrod and David Moran. Tony was born on December 20, 1962 to Thomas Smith and Sheila Pierce Smith in Houston, Texas, where he also grew up and attended school. On March 27, 1985, Tony married Kellie Hoffman in Groesbeck, Texas. Tony and Kellie made their home in Thornton where he was a self-employed carpenter who treasured his family and his home life. Tony was preceded in death by a great-aunt, Jessmyr Wilkinson; his grandmother, Mildred Leinweber; and his grandparents, Gorden and Marcile Smith. He is survived by his wife, Kellie Hoffman Smith of Thornton; a daughter and son-in-law, Bobbi and Jorge Ruiz of Hempstead; a son and daughter-in-law, Travis and Shyanne Smith of Groesbeck; a son and daughter-in-law, Joshua and Chelsea Smith of Kerrville; a sister, Deanna Wright of Houston; a sister, Barrie Smith of Groesbeck; a brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Ashley Walton of Conroe; a father and stepmother, Thomas and Nancy Smith; a mother, Sheila Walton of Groesbeck; grandchildren, Clayton, Carson, Jaydon, Tanner, and baby girl Smith.
