Granville William "G.W." Lenamond, Jr.

July 14, 1925 — March 11, 2017

Granville W Lenamond, Jr (G W) was born on July 14th, 1925, and went to be with The Lord Saturday March 11th, 2017, at Providence Hospice in Waco, Texas. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, prior to the funeral. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Bill Sutton of the Oletha Baptist Church officiating. Also, grandson Erick Shaw will speak of family memories, and Ms. Jodi Green will be the vocalist. Burial will follow in Cobb Cemetery. Pallbearers will be the grandchildren, Angela Shirley, Chris Shirley, Ron Jones, Erick Shaw, and Delilah Gardner. Honorary pallbearers will be Dan Diel, Ronald Johnston, and Larry Lockwood. He was birthed in Limestone County to parents, Granville and Mary McFarlin Lenamond. They moved to Dallas, Texas in 1932, and resided with parents and sisters, Mary Helen, Tressa and Imogene. G W finished his education there at Crozier Tech. Granville met the love of his life and then married her, Bennie Ruth Ramey, on October 19th, 1944, in Dallas. They had two daughters and one son in their loving household. They moved to Hutchins, Tx. in 1953, and resided there until 1979 when they were transferred to Dennison, Texas for ten years. He worked at Gates Rubber Company for 28 years, retiring due to a medical condition, then moved back to his family farm in Limestone County where he resided until his passing. G W and Bennie were married for 71 years when she passed on October 26, 2015. Granville (G W) was an active and dedicated member and deacon of Oletha Baptist Church. He was loved and will be missed by countless friends and relatives. He loved to work his farm and do gardening. They traveled extensively loving the wonders of this land and was a member of the Limestone Travel RV Club. The entire family is a living testimony of the close loving relationships they made and shared with all of whom they bonded with over the years. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Mary Helen Lenamond, Tressa White, Imogene Merritt, and one son-in-law Gilbert Shaw. He is survived by his three children, Glenda Shaw of Dallas, Sandra Jones and husband Darwin of Kaufman, and Jimmie Lenamond and wife Donna of Groesbeck; five grandchildren: Angela Shirley, Chris Shirley, Ron Jones, Delilah Gardener, and Erick Shaw. Also, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandson, and many nieces and nephews.
