Peggy Sue Springer passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at her home, at age 81. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 15, 2017 from 6-8 at the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Criswell Cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Michalak, Jason Butler, Zack Meador, Hank Smith, Frank James, and Chad Raines. Peggy was born August 22, 1935 in Limestone County to Jimmy Bryant Patterson and Nettie Marie Simmons Patterson. She graduated from Marlin High School in 1954. Peggy worked as a bookkeeper for many years for numerous hospitals and the Mexia water department. In her trade, she was meticulous in all her dealings. In fact she was known to never let things go. Peggy married James (Jim) Michael Springer in 2009. Family was very important to Peggy and she loved sewing and cooking for them. Always the ultimate “people person” Peggy never met a stranger. If fact, she was a people magnet and loved to talk to all those she encountered. At home she always made sure that her house was in order. She was immaculate in her housekeeping with everything neat and clean and always in its proper place. This carried over to her hair and makeup as well, where everything had to be perfect. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Nancy Boon and Bobbie Nehring; a brother, W.S. Patterson and his wife, Margie; her grandparents, Wade and Della Simmons; aunts, Winnie Wolf, Winie Wade Bailey, and Ivy Shehorn; brother-in-law, Conrad Stone; and her first husband, Richard Michalak. She is survived by her husband James (Jim) Michael Springer; a son, Louis Richard (Rick) Michalak and wife Jo of Waco; a son, John Dennis Michalak and wife Ramona of Durango; a son, Randy Dieterich of Riesel; a daughter, Rhonda Dieterich McCormick and husband Lloyd of Groesbeck, 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; a brother, Jerry Patterson of Riesel; nephew, Brian East of Houston; niece, Stephanie Smith of Crawford; and niece, Daphne Malcom of Lorena.
