Donna L. Bensen

Donna Bensen was born June 22, 1938 in Camden, Maine. The hospital overlooked the ocean which might explain her love for the sand and sea. A love that she definitely passed down to her children and grandchildren. She met her “soul mate,” Larry Bensen, and became his “bride” February 27, 1982. They enjoyed many years of NASCAR races, UFC fights, and football. The past few years, he tended to her every need and never left her side. While living in California, she enjoyed gardening and was very proud of her rose garden and coy ponds. After relocating to Texas, she spent some time substituting and working for GISD. On February 7, 2018 at age 79, she went to be with the Lord surrounded by her closest loved ones and soul mate. Visitation will be held prior to services from 1-3 PM on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Faulkenberry Cemetery with Chaplain Jon Honea officiating. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Morton of Rockport, ME and Glenys Collins Morton of Pittsville, MA, and dear son David Wurtz II of Groesbeck. She is survived by her brother Dennis Morton and wife Rose of Santa Rosa, CA; sister Cindy Garvey and husband Donald of Oak Hills, CA; son Richard Wurtz and wife Shelly of Glendora, CA; daughter Debbie Brewer and husband Tim of Groesbeck; daughter in law Darla Wurtz of Groesbeck; daughter JayLynn Kruse of Beaver, OR; stepdaughter Kim Kaplan and husband Allen of Alta Loma, CA; stepson Scott Bensen and wife Laura of Henderson, NV; 22 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
