Starlet Jean (Shriver) Ross, of Groesbeck, passed away at Scott and White Hospital in College Station on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at age 75. The family will host a Visitation in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, February 23, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Following her wishes for cremation, the family will privately inter her cremains at Faulkenberry Cemetery. Starlet was born July 8, 1942 in Groesbeck to Adam Thomas Shriver and Mary Emma (Tompkins) Shriver. She graduated from Groesbeck High School in the class of 1960 and then attended Navarro College with classes in child development. She was active in sports, and even as an adult she played on local softball teams and volleyball teams. She lived in Groesbeck all her life. Starlet worked for some years at the Limestone County Clerk’s office and then for Mrs. Budde at the District Clerk’s office. She later worked at the Mexia State School from 1985 until she retired in 2002. She enjoyed fishing and reading. Starlett was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jerry Shriver. She is survived by her daughter, Danita Ann Ross of Thornton; 1 grandchild, Dakota Ross; a sister, Geri Arscott of Phoenix, AZ; a brother, Randy Shriver of Lufkin; 4 nephews – Zack, Ethan, Eric and Scott; 2 nieces – Emaleigh and Randa; and other extended family.
