Benjamin "Benny" Leroy Lenamon

Benjamin (Benny) Leroy Lenamon passed away at his home in Groesbeck on February 25, 2018. Family visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. – prior to the service - on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at Groesbeck Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, with Bro. Craig Tappe of Northcrest Church of Christ, Mexia and Rev. Tracy Sims of Central Baptist Church of Thornton officiating. Burial will follow in Faulkenberry Cemetery. Benny was born on September 19, 1948 to Leroy and Pauline Lenamon. He attended Navarro College, Baylor, and Sam Houston State, obtaining an Associates degree. He worked at the Groesbeck Journal, having returned to Groesbeck to be at the newspaper after his father’s heart attack. Later, he was employed at the U. S. Postal Service in Groesbeck and at Mexia State School prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Church of Christ but also enjoyed attending the Central Baptist Church of Thornton. He was a direct descendent and namesake of Ben Lenamon, a well-known citizen and major figure in Limestone County. Benny will be remembered as an accomplished musician, a pleasant and congenial person, always clean cut and dressed to perfection, and an astute thinker who was a Christian and decent to all people regardless of their station in life. Benny was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Linda Little and her husband Wilmer Little; and his precious daughter, Jenny Leigh, whom he will be buried beside. He is survived by his brother Bobby Lenamon and his wife Susan of Mexia; his sister, Shirley Lenamon of Groesbeck; and sister, Carolyn Bratcher and husband Charles of Groesbeck. He is also survived by his nephews, Randy Little and wife Teresa of Groesbeck and Bobby Lenamon II and wife Terri of Mexia; and by nieces, Natalie Bratcher of Cedar Park and Monica Terrell and husband Adam of San Angelo. He is also survived by his beloved great nephews and nieces, Carson Gates, Kara Gates, McKayla Terrell, Preston Fox, Kasen Lenamon, Kalex Lenamon, and Kaleb Lenamon; and by many cousins and other relatives.
