John Robert Scott, Jr., 88, formerly of Groesbeck, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Doctors Hospital, Augusta, GA. Visitation will be held at Groesbeck Funeral Home from 1:00 to 2:30 P.M. on Wednesday, March 7, 2018. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday at Fort Parker Cemetery, Groesbeck, where he will be laid to rest by his beloved wife, Peggy. Chaplain Jon Honea of the Limestone Medical Center will officiate. John was born June 2, 1929 to John Robert Scott and Thelma Ivey Scott. He grew up in Lincolnton, GA. before moving to Texas. He had been employed as a service manager at GRACO Mechanical in Houston and was a member of the Pipe Fitters Union before retiring. While living in Houston he began cattle ranching, and after retiring, he and Peggy moved to Groesbeck where he raised cattle. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Groesbeck. John moved back to Lincolnton nine years ago after Peggy passed away. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Peggy Scott; and their daughters Gail Scott and Peggy Lynn Scott. He is survived by his second wife, Orena T. Scott of Lincolnton, GA; daughters, Johnna Ingram and husband Dirk of Groesbeck, Ann Yates of Groesbeck, and Laurie Listi of Porter; his brother, Ben Scott and wife Dot of Lincolnton, GA: grandchildren: Francis Aultman and husband Jason, Scott Kendall, Johnny Kendall and wife Stephanie, Katie Cates and husband Richard, Darren Ingram, Clayton Elmore and wife Sarah, Wayne Ingram and wife Bobbi, Michael Listi and wife Megan, Austin Listi and wife Krystal; step-sons, Bob Cooper and wife Linda and Dean Cooper and wife Gail; 21 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; and 5 step geat grandchildren.
