She worked at Farmers State Bank of Groesbeck after graduation. On July 29, 1955, she married Arlie Vickery, at the First Baptist Church in Groesbeck. They lived two years in the LaSalle Community, and then made their home in Groesbeck for the rest of her life. On February 25, 1957, she started working at the Carl Cannon and Scott Reed Law Office in Groesbeck, and worked for them up until their deaths. About 1975, she went to work for Bobby Reed in his legal practice, and “Miss Martha” continued as his legal secretary until she retired on February 25, 1998. “Miss Martha” was honored on her retirement, after 41 years in the two law offices, with a grand reception attended by her family, friends, and many people she had worked with through her career. Martha and Arlie enjoyed more than ten years traveling in their travel trailer with the “Good Sams” Travel Club. The group went to Eureka Springs, Arkansas in the fall several years, as well as around Texas throughout the years. After Martha retired, they had time to go on several extended bus tours, which they really enjoyed. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Groesbeck. She worked as a volunteer at the Lord’s Store House, helped with the Red Stocking Follies, and was a member of the Groesbeck Study Club. Martha enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with family and friends. The pride of her life, along with Arlie, was her son Ronnie, his wife Linda, and their children. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Hubert Harringer and Joe Harringer. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Arlie Vickery of Groesbeck; son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Linda Vickery of Garland; granddaughter, Megan Vickery, of Oxford, Mississippi, and grandson, Brent Vickery, of Plano; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, J. T. and Judy Vickery of Lost Prairie
