Randall Lamar Smith

Randall Lamar Smith, of Midland, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2010 at Galveston, at age 53. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 19, 2010, at the Pavilion at Faulkenberry Cemetery, with Brother Richard Williams of the Church of Christ of Groesbeck officiating. Randall was born April 21, 1957 to Thomas Guy Smith and Peggy Joan (Rand) Smith in Marlin. His mother preceded him in death in 2005. Randy graduated from high school in Groesbeck, and soon after graduation joined the Army. He received his military training at Ft. Knox, KY, and served two tours in Germany with high security clearance. He later was stationed at Ft. Hood, TX. as a Staff Sergeant and Tank Commander with the 2nd. Armored Division, and served on the Division Color Guard. After his military service, Randy lived in Midland, Tx. where he worked as a welder. Mr. Smith is survived by his father, Thomas Guy Smith of Midland; daughter, Melissa Joan Smith of Midland; sons, Charles Wayne Smith of Midland, and Michael Alan Smith and wife Dolores of Manor; four grandchildren, Summer Lynn of Conroe, and J. R., Ashley, and Tiffany of Manor; and his brother, Robert C. Smith of Midland.
