Benito Cordova

Benito “Benny” Cordova, of Dallas, passed away unexpectedly from a sudden brain aneurysm at his home on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at age 62. Visitation will be Sunday, June 17, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Groesbeck Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday,  June 18, 2018 in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel.  Reverend Francisco Pineda of Weatherford will officiate.   Burial will follow in Cobb Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eliseo Turrubiarte, Mario Turrubiarte, Roy Reyna, Clifford Turrubiarte, Anthony Beck, Jr., and Joel Beck.   Honorary pallbearers will be Stephen Cordova, Timothy Cordova, Jr., and Frank V. Cordova.  Junior honorary pallbearers will be Vincent James Beck, Damon Joel Beck, and Liberty Quinn Beck. Benito (known as Benny) was born August 7, 1955 to Abraham Cordova and Esperanza (Turrubiarte) Cordova in Thornton.   He grew up in Dallas and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, Class of 1973. Benny worked for Dallas Cap and Emblem Co. until his health problems with rheumatoid arthritis became too severe.   He was an invaluable help to his Mother and in fact had taken her to the doctor the morning of his death.  Benny attended church services regularly with his Mother, at the Latin America Council of Christian Churches (CLADIC.) He enjoyed coming to visit family at Groesbeck and loved the cowboy lifestyle.  He enjoyed going with his Cordova cousins, with Pedro on his truck, with Tim and Frank to the cattle ranch, and visiting with all his family at the Turrubiarte and Cordova family gatherings.   He had an especially close friendship with his uncle Ellis Turrubiarte. Benny was preceded in death by his father, Abraham Cordova and cousins and other family members. He is survived by his mother, Esperanza Cordova of Dallas; sister, Dora Beck; sister, Emma Cordova; sister, Sophia Cordova; sister, Norma Cordova; brother, Stephen Cordova; and sister, Velma Cordova, all of Dallas.  Also, he is survived by nephews and niece, Anthony and wife Aubrie Beck; Joel and Daniel Beck; and Salina Cordova; and great nephews and niece, Vincent James Beck, Damon Joel Beck and Liberty Quinn Beck; as well as aunts, uncles, many cousins and other extended family.
