Betty Thompson

March 30, 1942 — October 27, 2018

Betty (Beard) Thompson of Houston passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Methodist Hospital in Houston.   Visitation will be Friday, November 2, 2018, 6:00-8:00 p.m., in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel.   Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at First Baptist Church in Groesbeck, Reverend Keith Collier, Chaplain Jon Honea, and Ray Zepeda officiating.   Music will be by Charlyn Stacy and JoAnn Stone.    Burial will follow in Thornton Cemetery.      Betty was born March 30, 1942 to Horace and Neva Beard in Limestone County.  She graduated from Groesbeck High School in 1960.  While in high school, Betty participated in activities and was a member of the Groesbeck High School Marching band, serving as majorette and feature twirler.After marriage, Betty lived in the Houston/Beaumont area.  She was a loving mother to Terry Paul and Blake Thompson.Betty loved attending her Sunday school class, Gospel Truth, at Second Baptist Church in Houston.  Traveling with the "Groesbeck Girls" and family gatherings in Groesbeck brought Betty joy. She was preceded in death by her son, Terry Paul Thompson; her parents, Horace and Neva Beard; and her brothers-in-law, Charles Carr and Bobby Golden. Left to cherish her memory are:  her son, Blake Thompson; sisters, Judy Carr, Karon Golden, Sharon and husband Don Potter; grandchildren, Brooke and Tyler Thompson; and five great-grandchildren.    Betty is also survived by an extended family of nieces and nephews; and many friends.
