Charles "Chuck" Dillon Bridges

Charles Dillon Bridges, of Groesbeck, passed away at Limestone Medical Center in Groesbeck on Friday, September 9, 2022, at age 56.

A private family memorial will be held to celebrate the life of Chuck Bridges. 

Charles was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Joseph Morris Bridges, Sr. and Annabelle Lea (Sturtz) Bridges on November 3, 1965.  He grew up in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids in 1984, and then joined the Marines.

After the Marines, he moved to Groesbeck, Texas where his sister Julie was living and has made his home in Groesbeck the rest of his life.   Chuck married Leslie Jo Kitchens and they had four daughters together, Sara, Brittany, Christen and Hayley.

He was employed at Hobbs Bonded Fibers first and then worked at Vulcan Rock Crusher.  He was a dynamiter, heavy equipment operator, then worked in the lab, and later was office manager until he retired when the Vulcan sites called in this area.

Charles enjoyed fishing and hunting in his spare time.  His family was his pride and joy, and he dearly loved them.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Annabelle Bridges.  

He is survived by his sisters and brother, Julie Farris, Melanie Hicks and her husband Rodney, Joe Bridges and his wife, Lea; his daughters, Sara Sherrod and husband Chris, Brittany McNutt and husband Daniel, Christen Vera and husband Marvin, Hayley Villa and husband Isaias.  He had 10 grandchildren, 6 nieces, and 2 nephews, and he was blessed with several great nieces and nephews.   He treasured his close friends and loved his pets.
