Charles Patrick “Pat” Wallace, of Jewett, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025, at age 60.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2025, in Fort Parker Cemetery.
Patrick was born April 16, 1965, to Charles Thomas Wallace and Regina Marie (Stifflemire) Wallace in Port Lavaca, TX. He grew up in Oak Ridge and attended J. L. McCullough High School in The Woodlands, where he played 2 years varsity football, as a linebacker on the team that was in the State playoffs for two years. He graduated in the Class of 1983, and went on to obtain an Associates’ Degree at TSTI and then a second Associates’ Degree.
He worked as a teenager with his father building houses. He had many natural skills, and could do any kind of work, whether electrical work or woodworking and could fix anything. He worked all his life as an independent carpenter for the public. He also built items such as porch swings and other woodworking which he sold.
Pat spent time with his “Gangan” fishing in Lavaca Bay and other places, and from his “Mamo,” he may have inherited some of his artistic talent as she was an artist.
Pat had a God-given creative talent which he used while young in modeling items in clay, and throughout his life, could carve in wood and rock. He was very meticulous and just by looking at a piece of rock and wood he could see what he could carve from it, some pieces being marine life, and bluebonnets or any other items. In addition to the carving, he painted the item, carved the scenery pieces and put it all together in a case for which he also made the frame. One of his pieces won a blue ribbon at the Montgomery County Fair. Although he did sell some work, he preferred to make items for gifts, and kept some for his own enjoyment.
He may have learned his love for animals from his mother, because he loved all animals and provided a home for many stray cats; the dogs which he collected were given a home with his mom. He also loved his nieces and nephews, who all called him “The Wizard” for the entertaining stories he would tell.
He had previously lived in Leakey for ten years, before moving to Jewett ten years ago. His home was on the same property with his Mother, and he was her caretaker, making sure if she needed anything he could help her or get in touch with his brother and sisters.
Pat was truly a very spiritual man, and knew he had a personal relationship with God and Jesus. He read the Bible through many times and said that he always learned something new each time. His faith is a great comfort and reassurance for his mother during this time.
Pat is preceded in death by his father, Charles Thomas Wallace in 2010; and his grandparents: Sherwood (Gangan) and Marie (“Mamo) Stifflemire, Ava Marie Barnett, James Bishop Wallace, and Mary Ellen Boyd.
He is survived by his mother, Regina Wallace of Jewett; brother and sister-in-law, Boyd and Tammy Wallace of Huntsville; sister and brother-in-law, Tracey and James Kay of Corpus Christi; sister, Jamie Wallace of Huntsville; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins, and other extended family.
