Edith M. Tullar, of Groesbeck, passed away at Windsor Healthcare Residence on Monday, February 21, 2022, at age 86.

Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 28, 2022 at Groesbeck Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Jon Honea officiating.

She will be interred on Thursday, March 3, 2022, in the Houston National Cemetery with her deceased husband.

Edith was born July 20, 1935, to Vern Aaron Cox and Edith Coffman Cox in Bridgeport, and lived in several towns growing up as her father’s work would change.   They lived the longest in Roll, Oklahoma, until moving to Channelview, TX when she was 12.

She lived in Channelview most of her life, where she worked and raised her 3 children.  She worked at The Fair Department Store there, and then went to work as manager of The Fair Shoe Store.

When Edith married “Pappy” Tullar, together they loved his 4 grown children and her 3 children, and he was an awesome Dad to her kids.

Edith always opened her home to anyone who needed a hot meal and a place to lay down.    She kept many kids off the streets.   She loved unconditionally, like Jesus.   She loved to travel and would be known to load up a grandkid and take off.   She dearly loved her family.  She never missed sending a Birthday card and Christmas card and wrote a full-blown letter with these.    She was good at expressing her love.

In 2017, Edith sold her house of 52 years and moved to Groesbeck where her daughter lived.    She loved this little town.   She never met a stranger, and made friends with her neighbors, the people in Brookshires and other stores, and her church family at the Word of Life church.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Pappy Tullar; 4 of her brothers and sisters; and her son, Jerry Breeland.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Lynn Breeland of Kansas; daughter, Judy Lofton of Groesbeck; 14 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; also great-great grandchildren; her brother and sister-in-law, Elton and Mary Cox of Fairfield; and nieces and nephews.
