Elbert Lee Lambert

Elbert Lambert of Thornton/Lake Limestone passed away Friday, December 28, 2018 at Skilled Nursing of Mexia.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 30, 2018 from 5-8 PM in the Groesbeck Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 AM on Monday, December 31, 2018 at Our Savior Lutheran Church of Centerville at 171 HWY 75 North in Centerville, TX  with Pastor Keith Bowman and Chaplain Jon Honea officiating.

Pallbearers will be Corey Lambert, Thomas Wehring, Tim Ener, Phil Kertz, Michael Novak and Jimmy Lambert.

Elbert was born December 30th, 1943 to John and Eva Lambert in Erath County.  He Graduated from Willis High School in 1962 and by 1964 made his way to Houston as he began his career as a machinist.  In 1966, he married Mary Lou Schwartz of which they enjoyed 52 years of marriage.  They had two children together, Christine and Steven. 

In 1973, Elbert and a business partner opened Numerical Tool in Houston.  The partnership was dissolved in 1977 and soon after in 1978, Elbert and Mary Lou opened up Lamco Machine of which they owned until their retirement in 2002 at the age of 58.  He spent his retirement joyfully at Lake Limestone where he enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with neighbors.  Elbert was an avid gardener and earned his Master Gardner Certification in 2016 and enjoyed volunteering within the community teaching the aspects of gardening.  Elbert also spent his retirement traveling, spending time with family and joyfully being around his grandchildren as well as working on a variety of projects with his great lake friends. 

He is preceded in death by his father John, mother Eva and brother Glen. 

Elbert is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Lambert; daughter Christine Ener and her husband Timothy; grand-daughter Bethany and grandson Thomas.  A son, Steven Lambert & wife Deanna; grand-daughter Alyssa and grandson Corey.  He is also survived by his brothers and sister, James, J.D., Dorothy, Andy and numerous nieces and nephews. 

In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made in Elbert's name to Our Savior Lutheran Church of Centerville at 171 HWY 75 N., Centerville, TX  75833
