Ernie is now in heaven with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She passed peacefully on Saturday, July 23, 2022.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2022 (with visitation prior to the service) in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Paul Moore of Trinity Fellowship will officiate. No formal graveside service will be held due to the summer heat. Burial will occur following the service at Cobb Cemetery.
For Ernie to receive the best health care possible she was admitted into the Groesbeck Long Term Care nursing home in February 2022. Ernie’s physical and mental abilities had diminished to the point where she needed round-the-clock care. Ernie realized this about her health, so she agreed that it was time for her to move into the nursing home where she could have the best care possible.
Ernie had a very nice roommate in the nursing home who helped look out for Ernie. Ernie and her roommate became good friends. They prayed and rejoiced together about the Lord daily right up until the time they both came down with Covid earlier this month.
Although Ernie remained asymptomatic, she became very distressed with post-Covid conditions that consisted of loss of appetite and severe fatigue with full-body aches and pains. To ease Ernie’s discomfort, Hospice administered the usual protocol of drugs for her pain. In addition to the nursing home staff, Hospice closely monitored Ernie right up until the time of her passing.
Karen was able to talk to Ernie very briefly about a week before her passing. She shared that she was just too “sleepy” to talk so they said their usual goodbyes and Karen told her to just rest. Once she was out of quarantine, Karen was making plans to go and visit her as she knew several other family members and friends did. However, all now know that God had a different plan for Ernie. Be comforted knowing that Ernie is now with the greatest visitor who got to see her before the family did again—her heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior.
Ernestine was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest C. Collins and Bertha D. (Rogers) Collins; first husband, Ira E. Wilson and second husband, George Lee Audd; and stepson, Ronald L. Wilson.
She is survived by her stepdaughter, Karen Wilson Anderson of College Station; stepson and daughter-in-law, Charles E. and Sandi Wilson of Azle; stepson and daughter-in-law, Eddie L. and Cathy Wilson of Las Cruces, NM; sister-in-law, Cleo Wilson; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Let us rejoice for Ernie that she is now home and in the care of the The Great Physician. Halleluiah, our God reins (Psalm 97).
Psalm 139:15-17 (NIV)
15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
17 How precious to me are your thoughts,[a] God! How vast is the sum of them!
