Estervina Romero

Estervina Romero, of Groesbeck, passed away at home, under the care of Hospice and with her family by her side, on Friday, February 2, 2024, at age 86.

Visitation will be held at Groesbeck Funeral Home beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2024, followed by a Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Deacon Daniel Ramirez officiating.

Estervina was born November 7, 1939, to Juan Perez and Juana Romero in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, the youngest child in the family, with ten older siblings.  She was a Catholic all her life.  She moved to the Bronx in New York in 1960 and lived in the same apartment there for thirty-five years.   She loved her apartment in New York, and although she loved to travel and she visited family in the Dominican Republic every few years, she loved to come home to New York. 

Estervina was head-strong enough to do what she decided.    She was very family oriented; she loved her grandchildren and enjoyed visits from them through the years.  She enjoyed her niece Belkis who also lived in New York, and later after she moved to Groesbeck in 2023 to live with her daughter, she enjoyed having her grandson Roberto living near her.   

Estervina was preceded in death by her mother, Juana Romero and a son, Roberto Fabian Perez on February 24, 2023.

She is survived by her daughter, Juana Gomez of Groesbeck; grandsons, Juan Alcivar of Silver Spring, Maryland, Roberto V. Gomez of Groesbeck, and Jessie Gomez of Honolulu, Hawaii; granddaughter, Cristina Fabian and her three daughters of the Bronx; three great grandchildren, Brian-Michael A. Gomez of Groesbeck, Ava Gomez of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Ana Gomez of Honolulu, Hawaii; a brother, Patrico Perez Romero and a sister, Clara Perez Romero, both of the Dominican Republic; her niece, Belkis Lorenzo of Yonkers, New York and many other nieces and nephews.
