Gavin is the son of Nicha Patrick, born February 25, 1993, in Atlanta, TX. and was called “Gabby” by his mother while he was a child.   He grew up in Marshall, until moving to Teague where he attended middle school and enjoyed playing football one year. He then attended high school in Groesbeck.

Gavin grew up as the youngest boy who enjoyed skateboarding and playing football with his brothers; always wanted to be competitive and try to keep up with them; and was protective of his sister.  He was an amazing son, and always looked out for his mother all his life; all she had to do was pick up the phone and call if she needed anything.  He would drop everything to be there for her.  He loved each and every one in his family with all his heart.

Gavin and his wife, Chelsea Patrick, lived together for the past eleven years, and currently lived in Mexia, where they were raising their family of three girls and a new baby son.

Gavin loved manual labor, working with his hands and took pride in this work.  He loved roofing work, and even after he was working full time using his natural ability to do mechanical work, he would continue to help anyone who needed roofing or mechanical work in his spare time.  He had been working the past year at Al’s Auto, near Mexia.

He never met a stranger and would carry on a conversation about anything with anyone.  He adored Chelsea and he was very present and active in his children’s lives.  The girls would greet him when he came home from work screaming “Daddy’s home.”   He was always ready to take them fishing or on hikes or just playing in the yard.

As each of his three daughters were added to their family, Gavin always said, “I was born to be a girl dad,” because he had been raised by women, and had always been protective of his mother and sister.  But when he was blessed with the birth of his son three months ago, he said “Boy, I needed you to complete the final piece of the puzzle of this family.”  The girls would be screaming and playing and he would look at Everette and say “See bud, that’s why I need you here.  I was drowning in estrogen without you.”

Gavin was preceded in death by his great grandfather, from whom he was given his middle name of Everette, as well as his mother-in-law, Theresa Cates.

He is survived by his wife, Chelsea Patrick of Mexia; daughters Athena Patrick, Alice Patrick, and Abigail Patrick and son, Everette Patrick, of Mexia; his mother and father, Nicha Patrick and Brian Bassett of Thornton; brother, Landon Patrick of North Augusta, South Carolina; brother and sister-in-law, Leighton and Faythe Patrick of Mexia; sister and brother-in-law, Tristan and Patrick Elliott of Kempner, TX; grandmother, Linda “Nanny” Jones of Groesbeck; grandfather, Bruce Wayne Patrick; aunt and uncle, Londa and Kirk Burton of Hot Springs, AR; and aunts,  Dondie Jones and Angelica Jones of Waco.

His ten nieces and nephews are: Lylah Patrick, Job Patrick, Grayson Sherrod, Dexter Morales, Bonneigh Elliott, Lydia Patrick, Liam Patrick, Leland Patrick, Logan Patrick, and Levi Patrick.  There are also six cousins: Katheryn Lemons, Matthew Burton, John Burton, Noah Stinnett, Kyra Stinnett and Saviah Stinnett.
