Geraldine Thomas

Geraldine Thomas, a retired school teacher, died Sunday, May 27, 2018 at the Solana Vintage Park in Houston, Texas.  She was 97 years old. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Lake Limestone Baptist Church, with Pastor Kenneth Worley officiating.  Burial will follow in Seale-Round Prairie Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ethan Hansen, Kris Hansen, Wade Neyland, Todd Neyland, Pate Neyland, and Drew Neyland. Mrs. Thomas was born on May 10, 1921 in Seale, Texas to LL Neyland and Lyddie (Sadler) Neyland.  She most recently lived in the Houston area.   She married LV (Bub) Thomas on May 2, 1943 in Franklin. Geraldine graduated from Southwest Texas State University (Texas State) with her Masters degree in Education.  She began her teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse in the Seale-Round Prairie community.  After teaching first through sixth grades at Seale-Round Prairie, she later taught elementary grades in Groesbeck, and then taught for Pasadena Independent School District.   She retired with nearly forty years service.   She is lovingly remembered by many (who are now Senior Citizens,) as their favorite teacher, and she will always be remembered for her love of children and her many contributions to childhood education. Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, LV in 1991; her mother and father, Liddie and LL Neyland; brother, DD Neyland; and sisters, Christine Reagan and Glenice Carrington.
