Jackie Catherine Boyd

Jackie Catherine (Walthall) Boyd, of Seale, passed away at her home on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at age 94.

Jackie was born September 14, 1930, to Douglas and Janie (Harris) Walthall in Donie. During her teen years the family moved to Galena Park where she graduated from high school in 1948. She completed Cosmetology School and worked for a period of time as a beautician.

Jackie was united in marriage with Bobby Joe “Bob” Boyd on November 24, 1951, in Houston. They had met when he assisted her with a flat tire on the side of the road, and soon were married. Their marriage had endured for 70 years when he passed away in 2022. They were devoted members of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Houston.

Jackie was an amazing mother and grandmother and homemaker. She excelled in raising a daughter and two sons with a firm but loving hand (and switches.) She lost her father when she was only 3 and grew up poor, so she learned how to be thrifty, which helped her manage the family and be a help to her husband in the family business.

Jackie and Bob moved back to his birthplace in Seale about six years ago, for the view, relaxation, peace and quiet. During the last seven years of her life, her daughter Brenna lovingly devoted her own life to providing for her care.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bob in 2022; and all 4 of her siblings: William Rikard of Teague (recently), Billy Walthall of Donie (2 years ago), Mary Ann Rikard Humble of Big Sandy, and Nancy Dee Rikard Mize of Pearland.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Suzette Boyd of Tomball; daughter, Brenna Nichols of Seale; and son, Bradley Boyd of Houston; three grandchildren, Randal Nichols, Kasey Nichols Dunnagan and Michael Dunnagan, and Garrett Boyd and Gisela Boyd; and two great grandchildren, Tate Dunnagan and Corbin Dunnagan.
