Julius Bennett Trotter, 95, died Monday, April 24, 2023, in Waco, Texas.
Mr. Trotter will be interred at Rose Hill Cemetery in Hope, Arkansas at a later date.
Trotter, as his friends and family called him, was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on February 4, 1928, to Monroe J. and Marjorie Pettey Trotter. He graduated from Central High School in Little Rock in 1946, and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas.
He worked as a newspaper reporter and editor for various Texas and Oklahoma papers, including the Houston Post.
Mr. Trotter married Elsie Weisenberger in 1979 where they made Houston their home. They were both active members of Epworth Parker United Methodist Church, which later merged with Servants of Christ United Methodist Church.
Trotter was preceded in death by his parents and his wife as well as nephews, Raymond Huckabee, Darwin Huckabee and Royce Weisenberger, Jr.; nieces, Delores Huckabee Allen and Francis Weisenberger Reed; and cousin, Ralph Pridmore.
Mr. Trotter moved to Waco Brookdale Lakeshore Assisted Living in 2021, where he resided until shortly before his passing. Trotter’s family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Brookdale Lakeshore for the loving care afforded to Trotter for the last 2 years.
