Kathy Jean Perkins

Kathy Jean Perkins-Young was born on April 25, 1955, and passed away peacefully on Monday June 16, 2025, at age 70.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Brushy Cemetery off Co. Rd. 2721, near Flo (Buffalo), with Pastor Richard Gillet officiating.   

Kathy was born in Corpus Christi, Texas and grew up in the Flour Bluff area and graduated from high school.

She moved to the Donie area later, and her children attended school in Groesbeck. She had worked some as a nurse’s aid, as well as devoting her life to being a mother and housewife. She loved raising a garden and canning the produce she raised, making jelly, and also enjoyed sewing. She had a great love for music.

Kathy had a true love for God and was a loving mother and friend. She was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Groesbeck. Kathy will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her husband Cecil Ray (Butch) Young; father, Marvin Leslie Perkins; mother, Mary Ophelia (Neal) Perkins; son, William Earl Howell; sister, Dessie Marie Hale; and granddaughter, Melissa Erin Terrell.

She is survived by her children, Tonya (Cyndi) Perkins, Larry (April) Terrell, Bud (Judy) Howell. Her grandchildren are JoSharon Perkins, Daniel Terrell, Jacob Terrell, Joshua Terrell, Cody Moseley, Hayden Moseley, Austin Moseley, and Jesus Gamino; and she has two great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Linda Ann Patterson (Pat) and brother Marvin Leslie Perkins Jr. and nieces and nephews.
