Mary Beth was born February 6, 1932 to Davis and Florence Goodrich in LaSalle. She graduated from Groesbeck High School in 1949, as Valedictorian. Her accomplishments earned her a scholarship and she chose to attend Secretarial School.
Mary Beth was united in marriage with Donald Ray Stewart on June 30, 1951 just prior to his departure in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. She remained at home and worked until his discharge in 1952, when they moved to Houston. Their son Brian was born in Houston. Mary Beth had a career as a secretary for Goodyear Tire, for more than twenty years before retiring.
Throughout their years in Houston, they had frequently come to their ranch at Groesbeck, and after retirement they moved back and built a home in Groesbeck. They both had family in Groesbeck to enjoy spending time with. She loved being a grandmother to her three grandsons, cooking, shopping, and time with her family.
Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald Stewart in 2002; and the following sisters, brothers-in-law, brothers and sisters-in-law: Vera and Matt Stewart, Louise and Cy Reed, Hazel and John Oakes, Homer and Mary Goodrich, and Chesley and Bobbi Goodrich; and Donald’s sister, Nelda Stark and his brothers and sisters-in-law: Billy and Juanita Stewart, Bobby and Tina Stewart, Johnny Lee Stewart, and Bennett Stewart.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Dorothy Stewart of Friendswood; grandsons, Nolan Stewart of Houston, Cameron Stewart of Seattle, WA, and Garron Stewart of Webster, TX; sister, Rhoda Dotson of Houston; sister-in-law, Ida Stewart of Groesbeck; sister-in-law, Maxine Stewart of Rockdale; and brother-in-law, Lee Roy Stark of Bremond; and many nieces and nephews.
The caring efforts of the individuals who helped take care of Mary Beth in her later years will always be remembered and appreciated. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Elouise Carroll for assembling the “Dream Team” of caregivers and all her help and support through the years.
