Michael Lynch, 72, passed away at his home in Mart on Monday, July 13, 2026.
The family will have a Memorial to celebrate his life on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at 12:00 noon, at the Ben Hur Bar. Los Pirados MC will be honorary pallbearers.
Michael was born in Waco on November 11, 1953, to Earl Walker Lynch and Dorothy (Black) Whaley. He grew up in Waco and enjoyed many activities, including water skiing, riding trail bikes in Cameron Park with friends, and track and long-jump in school sports. He graduated from University High School in 1972, and attended TSTI for electrical and plumbing, obtaining his license as a Master Plumber.
Michael worked for Moses Plumbing in Waco doing residential plumbing for many years. He moved from Waco to Mart in 1992.
Michael was united in marriage with Sandra Erler in Waco on March 20, 1993, and they lived in Mart. In 1999, he opened his own business, Mike Lynch Plumbing, in Mart, and worked in new home construction at many homes in a large radius around central Texas. He was an honest, dependable perfectionist in his work, and a buddy said, “you get what Michael said you would get – or more.”
Michael was a co-founder of Los Pirados Motorcycle Club in Waco and served as President for 11 years. He and Sandra both rode Harleys; he rode a Harley V-rod – as fast as he could. His road name was “Slide.” The club was a service club and a large benefactor of many children, with annual toy runs, food drives, and school supply drives. They donated funds for school supplies to Groesbeck ISD and Mart ISD for the past 10 years, and Michael personally donated a gun each year for the fund-raising auction. He loved playing horseshoes, and especially loved going to the beach at Galveston – his “happy place.”
Michael was the son of a preacher in the Pentcostal Church. Michael lived with Jesus in his heart, and lived by the belief that good works did not need recognition, as the Bible taught “the left hand did not need to know what the right hand is doing.” His life provided more examples of beingthe hands and feet of Jesus than church services could to his family and friends. He taught the children to “give whatever you can, even if you don’t have enough for yourself – the Lord will provide.”
He could not drive past a homeless person – or a stray dog – without wanting to help. He would say, “I can give you some money, but what can I really do to help you,” and then following through as best as he could. This also led to many stray dogs being taken care of at his home.
Michael adored his wife Sandra – his “princess” and thought she hung the moon. He dearly loved his children and grandchildren and the great grandchildren. He has left them a great legacy by the example of his good life. Wherever the family would go around Waco, they usually saw someone who knew him and spoke well of his life. During the past four months that Michael was on Hospice, friends kept a train of visitors at the door who came to be with Michael, showing a large number of the lives Michael had impacted.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Zachary Taylor (1/2/2007) and grandson, Jaxon Crist (1/23/2011).
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Lynch of Mart; children and their spouses: Jana and Toby Carter of Cleburne, Melisa and Jason Greenfield of Grandview, Kenneth and Sarah Taylor of LaVernia, Curtis and Chelsea Anderau of Robinson, Megan and Chris Mays of China Spring, Morgan and Maddison Ivy of Mart, and Jaylon Trim of Mart; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters, Earline Langford of Prairie Hill, Donna Berry of Waco, and Mary McMahon-Harshfield of Hubbard; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made in honor of Michael to the Shepherd's Heart Food Pantry in Waco, or any charity of your choice.
