Milton Wayne "Todd" Mills

Milton Wayne Mills, known to everyone as Todd, passed away at his Mart home on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at age 70.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Mark Pedersen of the First Methodist Church of Marlin officiating.   Burial will follow in the Mart Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Rickey Dieterich, Jason Dieterich, Glen Dieterich, Jay Lyles, Benney Steensen, and Bubba Bennett.  Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Dieterich, Craig Schmedthorst, Justin Shaw and Nelson Stone.

Todd was born in Mart on May 12, 1953, to Marvin Milton Mills and Vernell (Stone) Mills.   He grew up in the McClanahan community and graduated from Marlin High School in the Class of 1972.

Todd’s life was always in agriculture, although he delivered propane in the Mart and Marlin area for West Gas Service for 23 years.    After that he was involved full time in farming, working for other farmers, and when not working, he liked to ride around and look at the fields.

Todd was united in marriage with Debra Fay Moore in 1988 and lived the rest of their lives in Mart.  They were blessed in 1992 with the birth of their first and only child, Nicole.  Debra Faye passed away in 2020.   Todd enjoyed working in his yard and garden, raising enough vegetables to feed his family and share with neighbors and the community.   He preferred to be outside on the tractor anytime to being in the house.  He stayed active, up to mowing his yard the day before his death.

Todd was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Milton Mills; two brothers, David Mills and Jerry Mills; and his wife, Debra Fay Mills.

He is survived by his mother, Vernell Mills of Mart; his daughter, Mary Nicole Mills of Mart; brother and sister-in-law, Ricky and Donna Mills of Marlin; sister-in-law, Christina Moore of Mart; many nieces and nephews and cousins.
