Nieves "Gloria" Felan Arroyo

Nieves “Gloria” Felan Arroyo, of Groesbeck, passed away at her home on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at age 73.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m., in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2024, in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel, with Deacon Daniel Ramirez officiating.   Burial will follow in Faulkenberry Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Cesar Contereas, Kaleb Rosales, Robert Ramirez, Artist Nevels, Dominic Felan Rosales II (Lil D), and Martin Felan.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dominic Rosales, Mathis Felan, Pascual Contereas, Jr., Jaylon Medlock, Cecilio Felan, and Daniel “Boone” Rosales.

Gloria was born June 17, 1950, in Meridian, TX. to Margarito Charles Felan and Augustina Felan.   She grew up in Waco and graduated from Waco High School.  

Gloria married Mayolo Arroyo on March 27, 2008, in Limestone County and they lived in Groesbeck.

Gloria was an outgoing person and a hard worker.  She had worked in construction, road construction, helped build a church, worked at Hobbs Bonded Fibers, co-owned a restaurant with her mother and sister and waitressed, rode horses, taught her sister how to shoot guns, and really loved fishing.  She also did beautiful crochet work and was a wonderful cook – she made the best Charro beans and loved to prepare all dishes to please her husband and family.   She worked 13 years before retiring from the Mexia State School.

Gloria was family oriented and loved to spend time with the family.  She helped care for her parents during their illnesses before their deaths.  She dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and was a good aunt to her nieces and nephews.   She would do anything for her loved ones.  

Gloria was preceded in death by her mother, Augustina Felan in 1998, her father, Margarito Felan in 2005, and a brother, Geronimo Felan (8-22-2016.)

She is survived by her husband, Mayolo Arroyo of Groesbeck; her children, John Jr. Rosales and wife Stephanie Owen, Dominic Felan Rosales, Seledonia “Sally” Palomin and husband Mario, Daniel “Boone” Rosales and wife Marlene, Nick Arroyo, and Matthew Arroya; grandchildren, Kaleb John Rosales, Dominic Felan Rosales II, Christina Ortiz, Arica Ramirez, Autumn Owens, Matthew Owen, Colby Owen, Jasmine McClendon, Leeza Rosales, Miranda Rosales, and Misty Pelton; and 25 great grandchildren.

Her siblings are Hilda Contereas and husband Pascual; Michelle dela Cruz, and Mathis Charles Felan and his wife Sheila; sister-in-law, Margaret Felan; and she has many nieces and nephews as well as great and great-great nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by her goddaughter, Cecilia Lopez (niece), and her caretaker, Rosalinda Martinez (niece.)
