Groesbeck

Norma Cordova, of Groesbeck, passed away peacefully, at Ascension Providence Hospital in Waco, on Sunday, October 1, 2023, while knowing she was loved by all her loved ones who were by her side holding her hand.

Norma was born April 23, 1960, to Abraham L. Cordova and Esperanza Turrubiarte Cordova in Dallas.   She grew up in Dallas and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in the Class of 1978.

She began a lifetime of work, with her first job at the Coca Cola factory in Dallas, where she worked 20-plus years.   She then worked for Home Interiors in the Distribution Center in Farmers Branch.    She loved her job working nights taking phone orders and data entry.    She enjoyed and collected many Home Interior decorations, and one of the benefits of her job working in the office and knowing the owners was being given tickets for herself and family members for courtside seats at sporting events.

Her last employment was at Baylor Scott and White in Dallas in hospitality.  She enjoyed serving the public and liked to provide special service to the doctors and nurses.

Norma was a talkative lady who made friends with everyone, and she helped a lot of people.   She was a great animal lover and was known in Dallas as a “cat lady.” She took in and fed many cats who were dropped off at her home as well as other homeless cats in the neighborhood.   Wally was the special cat she loved most.  She loved music, reading romance novels, John Wayne movies and also horror movies.

Norma had spent much time throughout her life with extended family in Groesbeck, including summers, weekends, holidays, and family gatherings.  She, and her mother, daughter and sisters, moved to Groesbeck, one year ago, and she  enjoyed this past year in their Groesbeck home.

Norma, as well as all her family, had attended Gethsemani Pentecostal Church in Dallas all her life, until they moved, and she attended Monte Carmelo Church with her family after moving to Groesbeck.

Norma was preceded in death by her father, Abraham L. Cordova (1988), brother, Benito Cordova (2018) and brother, Stephen Cordova (2020) and other extended family members.

She is survived by her daughter, Salina Cordova of Groesbeck; mother, Esperanza Cordova of Groesbeck; four sisters (all of Groesbeck): Dora Beck, Emma Cordova, Sophia Cordova and Velma Cordova; nephew and his wife, Anthony and Aubrie Beck and great nephews and great niece, Vincent, Damon and Liberty, all of Keller; nephew and his spouse, Joel and Daniel Beck Brown of Groesbeck; and aunts, uncles and cousins and many other extended family members.
