Patricia “Pat” Jean Mease Ross, 80, of Georgetown, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 26, 2026. Pat was born on December 9, 1945, to Herndon Albert Mease and Doris Nola George Mease of Kemah, Texas. She was the oldest daughter of five siblings and loved to play volleyball in school and even as an adult in a church league.
Pat married her high school sweetheart and soulmate, Richard “Dick” William Ross, Jr. on her 18th birthday, and they built a life centered on faith and family. This past December Dick and Pat celebrated 62 years of marriage and a lifetime of love. Their families were neighbors and friends when they were five and six years old, and Pat always told everyone that she knew she would marry Dick someday.
Dick and Pat loved to spend time with their children and often took them camping and fishing at Sam Rayburn for entertainment. Pat was an excellent cook, and the camping trips were always filled with the aroma of sizzling meat over a campfire. She was known for Sunday afternoon roast dinners for the whole family and the fact that she could take any wild game that Dick and the boys brought home and turn it into a delicious meal.
Besides their own family, Dick and Pat were part of a church family wherever they lived. Their strong belief in following Christ and their devotion to serving Him led them to have deep ties to their church families. Pat always led by example and servitude and took on many roles in the church over the years, including church secretary, VBS director, GA and Acteens director (a Baptist student missions’ program for girls), children’s ministry director, and the Gideon Auxiliary. For many years, she was integrally involved in Camp Crestview at Crestview Baptist Church in Georgetown where she poured her heart and talents out in months of preparation and the actual camp itself.
Pat and Dick built a life filled with hard work and balanced it with hobbies and friends. They loved to bowl, and both excelled at the game. Pat was named the WIBS Bowler of the Year in Austin in 1986. They participated in leagues and traveled to bowl in tournaments around the United States. When they weren’t traveling to bowl, they were doing it to enjoy the beauty of God’s creation. Their favorite area was the scenic Southwest, especially the beautiful state of Utah. They were also blessed to travel to many other destinations, including Acapulco and Bermuda.
After her children were raised, Pat began a career at GTE. She started as a temporary fill-in and worked her way up to Level 10 management. The self-taught woman with a GED ended up writing software programs and manuals for telecommunication mergers. She retired from GTE in 2006.
As their family grew, Pat spent a great deal of time and energy spoiling grandkids and later great grandkids. She always made time to play with them, take them places, support them in their elements, and help them out if they ever needed it. She made each grandkid a personalized cookbook of her own recipes and family pictures. Every one of her grandkids viewed her as a saint who did no wrong, and they were pretty much right.
Pat also loved her siblings dearly, and with her sisters created an annual tradition of family bakeoffs so that all the women and girls in the family could share quality time and build memories together. At one of the last bake-offs, she gifted every female in the family with an apron that she had sewn herself.
She is survived by her husband and best friend, Dick Ross; her three children, Keri Lyn Martin and husband Blaine of Groesbeck, Richard “Willie” William Ross, III of Mexia, and Anthony Allan Ross and wife Amanda of Liberty Hill; her grandchildren Jacob Thoele and wife Hali, Jillian Thoele, Brittany Clark and husband Alex, Anthony “Tony” Ross, Ian Chambers, Tessa Chambers, Kristine Ross, Sarah Ross, Johnathan Chambers, and Derrick Ross; her great-grandchildren, Jase Thoele, Emery Thoele, Aria Clark, and Romeo Clark; her siblings, Frank Mease and wife Betsy of League City, Kathryn Hamilton and husband Tom of Lake Limestone, Karen Burks and husband Larry of Grapevine, and Randall Mease of League City; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents and her loving in-laws, Richard and Nola Ross, her brother-in-law, Robert Ross, Sr., her nephew Robert Ross, Jr., and her niece by marriage, Angela Ross.
Pat’s faith in Christ, love, kindness, and acts of service is her legacy of a life well-lived. She exemplified the Proverbs 31 woman, and her family and many friends were blessed to have known her and will always hold her dear in their hearts until they can reunite with her in eternity.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Point Enterprise Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Gideons International. Pat was a big part of the Gideons Auxiliary (the women’s part of the organization) and devoted a lot of time to placing Bibles.
