Robbie Swick

Robbie Swick, of Bremond, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 6, 2026, at age 59.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, in the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Bremond, with burial following at Fort Parker Memorial Park in Groesbeck.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Johnson, Phillip Johnson, Craig Davidson, Cary Bielamowicz, DVM, Todd Neyland, and Bradley Slafka.

Honorary pallbearers will be David Diver, Ernie Mushinski, Larry Slafka and Chuck Wilganowski.

Robbie was born on July 22, 1966, in Waco, the fourth of five children of Floyd Joe and Elizabeth (Bielamowicz) Swick. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bremond. Robbie grew up in Groesbeck, where he was involved in the Catholic Church in Mexia, member of Groesbeck FFA, helped his dad with cattle, played football and graduated from Groesbeck High School in the Class of 1984. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Ag Science from Sam Houston State University at Huntsville in 1991.

Robbie worked numerous jobs including commercial trucking, Conco Phillips and many years at Oak Grove Power Plant as an operator. He had recently transitioned to 3B Construction as their Safety Supervisor.

Robbie and Todd were the infamous Swick Brothers, with their cattle operation at Big Hill and Bremond, and cutting and baling hay. They also competed in ranch rodeos with Todd Neyland and qualified for Nationals.

One of the family’s cherished memories was meeting at the Groesbeck Meat Co., also known as Swick’s BBQ, for their weekly “Board Meeting” on Friday afternoons with family and friends. Robbie and his family - Swick’s BBQ -catered years of local events, weddings and St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Mexia’s annual church bazaar.

He cherished every moment with his family and especially with his sons, while working cattle, cutting hay, enjoying nature, and passing along the traditional values of helping others as well as the satisfaction of hard work and the rewards it bore.

Robbie has been preceded in death by his father, Floyd Swick; uncle, Bill Swick (the Swick’s BBQ brothers); and maternal and paternal grandparents.

He is survived by his sons, Bradley Swick and his fiancée Elena of San Mateo, California and Rance Swick of Bremond; mother, Elizabeth Swick; siblings, Sharon Wilson and husband Matt of Groesbeck, Geralyn Vasut of La Grange, Mary Tate and husband Greg of Blue Ridge Community, and Todd Swick and wife Annie of Bremond; cherished nieces and nephews, Blair Davison and husband Dustin, Kent Wilson and wife Jessica, Josie Swick, Jolie Swick, Charlie Swick, Reagan Bates, Tim Vasut and wife Shelbie, and Chris Vasut; many aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Robbie may be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
