Roger was born October 19, 1958, to Welton Wilmer Henderson and Mary Louise (Davis) Henderson in the old “Dr. Cox Hospital” in Groesbeck.    He grew up in Groesbeck and graduated from Groesbeck High School in the Class of 1977, and attended Navarro College.

Roger lived and worked in Groesbeck for the majority of his life, in jobs including surveying, drafting, power plant operations and later in metal fabrication.

Roger loved coaching his sons when they were young, and a highlight of his life was coaching the young boys in PeeWee football.   Although he was tough, he was fair and tried to make sure each boy was allowed to play in the game.  Their team won the superbowl championship.

Roger, with his two sons, Josh and Jeremy, were outdoorsmen by nature.  They enjoyed bow hunting deer locally, fishing, and hog hunting.  They also enjoyed horses and competing in team roping jackpots.

He was a member of Groesbeck Christian Fellowship and Living Proof Church.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Clinton Henderson; his brother-in-law, Richard Reagan; and great nephew, Chad Walker.

He is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Joshua and Elissa Henderson of Groesbeck and Jeremy and Arlie Henderson of China Spring; three grandchildren, Jack Henderson, Jett Henderson and Mykelyn Henderson; his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara June and Dennis Walker of Groesbeck; sister, Nancy Reagan of Groesbeck; twin brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Mary Henderson of Colorado Springs, CO.; sister-in-law, Mary Garrett Henderson of College Station; and multiple generations of nieces and nephews.
