Rosie Lee Walker passed away at her home in Groesbeck on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at age 87.
Rosie was born in Eldridge, Texas to Willie Albert Wetz and Bettie Lee (Zikuhr) Wetz on August 18, 1935, and she grew up in Houston.
Rosie was united in marriage with David William Walker, Sr. in Houston on October 29, 1951. Rosie and David, along with their two sons, moved from Houston to Kosse in the late 70s. Of all the professions in her lifetime, she was most proud of her time working at the Limestone County Detention Center in Groesbeck.
However, the greatest source of pride in her life was being a mother. Rosie had moved to Groesbeck from Kosse five years ago, to be closer to her family.
Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, W.A. “Bill” and Bettie Lee Wetz; her husband, David William Walker, Sr; a son, David William Walker, Jr; and a grandson, David William Walker, III; also by a brother, Julius Wetz and a sister, Edna Nelson.
She is survived by her son, Shannon Rousey and his family, Jaclyn Duncan and Cade Duncan; and a granddaughter, Malesia Kelsey and husband Brian; and two sisters, Charlene Byrns and husband Johnny and Betty Jean Brockman; nieces and nephews; and her friends at Accent Home Health and Hospice.
