Sandra D'Ann Riedel

March 21, 1958 — June 20, 2023

Lake Limestone

Sandra D’Ann Riedel, of Lake Limestone, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at Groesbeck LTC Nursing Home, after a short battle with cancer, at age 65.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2023, in the Elgin City Cemetery, Elgin, TX., with Pastor Jeff Wilson of the Elgin New Life Church officiating.

Sandra was born March 21, 1958, in Taylor to Antone Erdman and Velma Gage Erdman.   After her father passed away, she lived in Austin, where she attended school and was in the high school band.  She graduated from Lanier High School in 1975.

Sandra was united in marriage with Raymond Douglas Riedel on November 25, 1977, in the United Church of Christ at Coupland, Texas.    They lived in Manor until 1994 when they moved to the farm property which had been inherited from her grandmother.  Living on the farm had been her lifetime dream.  She dearly loved her animals – dogs, cats, the cows and her horse, Dusty.

Sandra and Doug both worked at Classic Design Cabinets in Elgin, where she was a secretary for around 25 years.  When they both decided to retire, they wanted to find lake property, and after looking at various areas they chose Lake Limestone.   They sold the farm and moved to the Lake in 2019, where she enjoyed being away from the hustle and bustle.

Sandra loved to keep bird feeders out and enjoy the hummingbirds, red birds and blue jays.  Sandra and Doug did fish some, but they especially enjoyed walking down to the dock to see the morning sunrise and evening sunset and their peaceful life.

Sandra was preceded in death by her father and mother and her stepfather, Theodore “Ted” Schneider.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Doug Riedel.

In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to honor Sandra with a donation may consider LARAS House (animal rescue) in Mexia.
