Sandra was born June 26, 1940 in Houston to John Wesley Segrest and Eria McKinley Segrest, who have preceded her in death.  She grew up in Houston and graduated from Houston Vocational-Technical (VOTEK) High School in 1958, and then attended North Harris County Community College.

She met her future husband Glenn Steve Rasco in Houston in 1957 and they were married on November 18, 1958 in Richmond.  Steve was in the Navy from January 1958 through 1962 and Sandra was able to be with him in California for a period of his time in the service.

When Steve was discharged from the Navy and joined the Houston Police Force,  they lived in Houston, where they raised their three sons.  Sandra worked as the church secretary at Hidden Valley Church of Christ, and then as the secretary of Aldine High School where her three sons attended school.

Sandra and Steve moved to Limestone County in 1983.   While living in rural Thornton, Sandra worked at the Limestone County Courthouse as assistant auditor for several years, and then she worked for Groesbeck ISD at the primary and elementary campus for 15 years, until 2002.

Sandra was a member of the Church of Christ of Groesbeck and previously a member of the Church of Christ in Houston.   She loved caring for children and did for many years in her work with the school system and church.  She was a Sunday School teacher in Groesbeck, and was a part of many singing groups, with her wonderful alto voice.   She loved music, including gospel, doo-wop, and rhythm and blues.    In addition to her love of singing, she loved piano, reading, church, painting, puzzles and games, computer, traveling, and things of nature, particularly red birds.   She loved gardening and creating something of beauty.

Sandra was selfless in everyway and dedicated her life to raising her three sons, being a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and Nanna.  She will be very much missed and always loved.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Glenn Steve Rasco of Thornton;  son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Zoe Rascoe of Temple; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Jamie Rascoe of Houston; son, Barron Rascoe of Thornton; 6 grandchildren: Robin, Olivia, Blaise, Michael, David, and Madelyn, and great grandchild, Bohdi; sister and brother-in-law, Sylvia and Lawrence Whatley of Houston; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Annette and Dave Stillwagon; nephews, Larry, Gary, Stewart, and Troy; and nieces, Tammy and Julie.
