Scott Reed Johnson

January 6, 1964 — September 2, 2019

Scott Reed Johnson of Kosse passed away peacefully with his wife at his side at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas, on September 2, 2019.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 6, 2019 at the Groesbeck Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 am with Rev. Tracy Sims officiating.

Scott grew up in Mexia, Texas and went to school there. In high school he enjoyed running track and playing golf.

Scott loved to work and for the last eleven years he worked as a control room operator at Oak Grove Luminant where he considered the guys he worked with as his family.

In 2012 Scott met the love of his life Darla Sue Johnson. On March 17, 2013 they were married and together they built a beautiful life and enjoyed each adventure they had together. They loved spending time with their grandchildren. Scott was happy if Darla was happy.

Scott enjoyed collecting coins, which is something his grandson Tucker enjoyed with him. He also enjoyed watching movies and Scooby Doo with his grandson Carter. Spending time outdoors for family barbeques and going on many trips with his grandsons was also special to Scott.

Scott was preceded in death by his father Glen Dean Johnson.

He is survived by his wife Darla Sue Johnson; a son Larry Thompson and Heather Jordan of Mexia; a daughter Samantha and husband Casey Bourgeois of Thornton; and a daughter Jessica Thompson of Mexia. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Trevor Bourgeois, Tucker Bourgeois, Colton Thompson, Carter Reed Thompson, and Luke Bourgeois.  Scott is also survived by his two sisters Ginger Rae Martinez of Bakersfield, California and Shauna Marie Johnson of Bakersfield, California; a brother Paul Damon Johnson of Mexia and nephews Miles Martinez of Bakersfield, California; Jason Scott DiBenedict; and Marcel Diego Martinez.
