Sylvia Ruth
Pyle
November 20, 1931 – April 5, 2026
Sylvia Ruth Pyle of Groesbeck, formally of Midlothian, TX, met her Lord early Easter Morning, Sunday, April 5, 2026, at Groesbeck LTC.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Fort Parker Cemetery Pavilion with Mrs. Cynthia Bever officiating.
Ruth cherished her family and her faith, always demonstrating a deep love for both. Growing up, she played an active role in supporting her relatives. After completing her education, Ruth began working at Southwestern Bell in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. It was during this time that she met Howard Pyle, who would become the love of her life. Following their marriage, Ruth and Howard relocated to Iowa, Howard's home state, where they embarked on a new journey together. They started a career in crop farming and raising cattle. Ruth was steadfast in supporting her husband; she assisted with daily chores, tended to the garden, and prepared countless meals for their family.
Despite her commitment to her new home and family, Ruth deeply missed her own family. She eagerly awaited weekly letters from her sister, Floy, and her mother, which brought her immense joy. Each year, she made it a priority to visit them, traveling either by Greyhound bus or by train, to ensure those bonds remained strong.
After a year of marriage, Ruth and Howard welcomed their daughter, Kathy, who became their only child. Ruth was devoted to her family and worked hard to ensure they had everything they needed. Once Kathy began school, Ruth took on various jobs to earn extra money for Christmas. She worked at an apple orchard picking apples and later packed cheese at the Maytag Cheese factory. Eventually, Ruth found employment at Northwestern Bell, where she worked until her retirement.
Ruth was also an enthusiastic supporter of Howard's interests. She attended tractor pulls where Howard competed and won numerous trophies. Together, they shared a passion for classic cars, participating in parades and displaying their vehicles at car shows. Howard even gave homecoming queens rides in their cars on occasion. After Howard's passing, Ruth decided to sell the farm and move to Texas to be closer to her family. In Texas, she became involved with her church and met friends who enjoyed traveling. Ruth took her daughter to Israel, later journeyed to Scotland, and enjoyed a cruise to Alaska. She truly lived a full and active life.
Ruth's faith remained central to her life. She taught Sunday School and led Bible study sessions with the women in her community, sharing her love for the Lord and her wisdom with others.
Ruth was blessed to live 94 years without experiencing any significant health issues. This remarkable longevity is a testament to the faithfulness of the Lord, as reflected in the promise found in Psalms 91:16: "With long life, I will satisfy her and show her my salvation."
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Ruby Fowler; her beloved husband, Howard Pyle; her granddaughter, Stevi Fuller; siblings Harold Fowler and his wife Mildred, Floy Tunget, Shirley and her husband Jim Hay, and Wayne and his wife Arlene Fowler; as well as her brother-in-law, James Delong.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Kathy and her husband Chris Fuller of Groesbeck; granddaughter, Amy Hunter and her husband David of Palmer; great-grandchildren, Traci Milner and her husband Brandon of Corsicana, and Tyler Rhodes of Palmer; great-great granddaughters, Kinsley Milner and Averi Milner of Corsicana; siblings Joe Fowler and his wife Harriette, Linda Delong, and brother-in-law, Jim Tunget. Her legacy continues through each member of her family.
