Troy "Bubba" Mayfield, age 57, passed away on May 5, 2026.

Born on September 30, 1968, in Whitney, Texas, Bubba was a man known for his big heart, his unique personality, and a truly carefree nature. He navigated life with an easy-going mentality and a generous spirit, always operating under the philosophy that if someone was in need, he would do anything for them. Perhaps the most enduring testament to his character was how he treated those he cared for; no matter the circumstances, he always made sure to end every conversation with "I love you."

At a young age, Bubba followed in his father’s footsteps to join UA Local 529, remaining a proud UA Pipefitter throughout his life. He took great pride in his trade and the deep sense of brotherhood he found within his union. Whether on a job site or at home, he was defined by his incredible circle of lifelong friendships that spanned decades. A fiercely loyal friend, he was someone you could call at any time for anything. He possessed the rare gift of turning acquaintances into family, and his absence will be felt deeply by the tight-knit group of friends who grew up alongside him.

Bubba is preceded in death by his father, Troy Mayfield, Sr., and his maternal and paternal grandparents. While his presence will be deeply missed, his family and friends find comfort in knowing he is at peace and reunited with those he loved and cherished.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara Pepper; his sisters, Tina Kincaid (Robert) and Angie Mitchell (Jon); and his brother, David Simpson (Sue). He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom he adored and doted on as if they were his own.

To the world, he was Troy, but to those who loved him most, he was always Bubba—a man who valued the simple bonds of family and the joy of helping others above all else.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
