Vicki was born June 14, 1942, to Edward Baker Cattley and Lavina (Blain) Cattley in Detroit, Michigan. Her youngest years were lived in Detroit until the family moved to Edinburg, TX. when she was 14. As a teenager, she helped work in her mother’s restaurant in Edinburg (The Chow House), and graduated from Edinburg High School in the Class of 1960.
Vicki was united in marriage with Jerry Lavon Holland, Sr. on July 11, 1960, two years after he had met her when she was only 16, and at a dance where she was chaperoned by her parents. They made their home in Edinburg until moving to San Juan where he was employed with Farmers Brothers Coffee.
Jerry retired in 2000, and they moved to Groesbeck two years later.
Vicki and Jerry enjoyed traveling all over the United States in their RV, staying gone for weeks during the year, and making many trips with the “Thousand Trails” RV Club. She always enjoyed finding something new to do.
Vicki was an awesome cook, with her family especially enjoying her coleslaw, potato salad, and the dressing she made for holidays. She also enjoyed bird watching with Jerry, reading and looking at the roses he grew for her. Vicki was a member of the Victory Baptist Church of Groesbeck.
It was Vicki’s great desire through the past few months of failing health to live long enough to see her newest great grandchild, due on December 24, who will share part of her name (Kinsley Jo Elizabeth Holland.)
Vicki was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry Holland, Sr. in 2023; and sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Don Harris.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry L. Holland Jr. and Tammie Holland of Groesbeck; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Josh Hodge of Groesbeck. Her grandchildren are: Jerry L. Holland III and wife Camile of Midlothian; Jeremy “Cole” Holland and wife Courtney of Axtell, David Michael Gonzalez, Jr. and wife Emily Williams of Saginaw, TX, Ronnie Holland and wife Paula of Jewett, Donnie Tollison and wife Madison of Seattle, WA, and Bobby Tollison of Groesbeck. The great grandchildren are: Hazel Claire Holland of Axtell, Anistyn Ashley Holland of Axtell, Carter Joe McDonald of Midlothian, Abigail Holland, Emily Holland, Katelyn Holland, and April Holland, all 4 of Jewett, and Serenity Tollison of Groesbeck. Her nieces and nephews include Steve Harris and wife Clarissa of Santa Fe, TX and Glenn Harris of Victoria, TX and numerous others.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Sierra Fleet from Axtell, who has been the home health and hospice nurse (with Reliable Health of Marlin) for both Jerry Sr. and Vicki throughout the past years. She has been amazing with her love and care for them and support for their family.
