Vicky LaVerne Parsons, 80, of Round Rock, Texas, passed away peacefully in Austin on Sunday, October 5, 2025.

Visitation and funeral services are tentatively planned for Saturday, November 1, at 1:00 p.m. at First Methodist Church in Marlin, Texas, with burial  to at Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin.   Please visit this website later for a confirmation on the exact date and time.

Vicky was born on August 4, 1945, in Hillsboro, Texas, to Travis Leon Chalmers and Loretta Lucille (Johnson) Chalmers. She grew up in Marlin and graduated from Marlin High School. She attended Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, where she majored in Library Science—and where she met the love of her life, Larry Parsons.

Vicky and Larry were united in marriage on August 1, 1964, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures. They lived in several Texas towns, including Sharpstown, Teague, Marlin, Vernon and Eagle Lake, raising their two children, Yancy and Cinnamon. Together, they shared a passion for antiques, estate sales, and historical markers—often turning a short drive into an hours-long journey filled with discoveries, laughter, and stories.

Throughout her life, Vicky dedicated herself to teaching children to read and nurturing a lifelong love of learning. She taught kindergarten at St. John’s Episcopal School for a total of five years and later served 13 years in Marlin ISD. Her final eight years were spent as librarian at Marlin Intermediate School, where she was instrumental in computerizing the library system and creating a program to help students with dyslexia.

Vicky was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority in Marlin. She loved her years in Eagle Lake, where she enjoyed playing Bunco and bridge with friends. She had a lifelong fondness for games and puzzles—especially crosswords, word searches, and dominoes—and delighted in friendly competition with her family. Her grandson, Travis, could often be found at her side during a domino game, and she took special joy in beating Yancy, Cinnamon and Jeff in other games.

Above all, Vicky’s heart belonged to her family. She wanted them always to know how deeply she loved Yancy, Cinnamon, Travis, Jeff, Julie, Hanna Leigh, and Sam, as well as her extended family and the many friends and neighbors she cherished—especially Tina King and her family, whose friendship meant so much in later years.

Vicky was preceded in death by her parents, Travis and Loretta Chalmers ; her parents-in-law, Flew and Virginia Parsons; her husband, Larry Parsons ; her brother, Eddie Chalmers, Her Sister-in-Law, Frances Chalmers and several beloved aunts, uncles, and other family members.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Yancy and Julie Parsons of Round Rock, and grandson, Travis Parsons of Seward, Nebraska; her daughter and son-in-law, Cinnamon and Jeff Balkman of Dripping Springs; her nephew and his family, Sam and Jill Chalmers and children Maysen, Melanie, and Morgan of Angleton; and her niece, Hanna Leigh Chalmers of Angleton; along with many other family members and friends she loved deeply.

Vicky will be remembered for her intelligence, wit, compassion, and unwavering love of family. She leaves behind a legacy of learning, laughter, and love that will live on in every life she touched.
