Wendell "Buster" Basil Jordan

August 7, 1937 — August 31, 2021

Wendell Basil “Buster” Jordan, of Kosse, passed away at the Limestone Medical Center in Groesbeck on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at age 84.

The family will hold a graveside service at the Kosse Cemetery at a later date.

Buster was born on August 7, 1937 in Kosse to Weldon T. Jordan and Agnes (Hunt) Jordan.   He grew up and attended schools in Kosse.

Buster served in the U. S. Army during the Viet Nam period and was stationed in the United States as military police.   He was honorably discharged in June 1967.

Buster worked in his early life for the railroad, and then while living in Austin sold life insurance for Western and Southern Life.  Later he lived in Houston where he worked in law enforcement as a deputy for the Harris County Constable’s office in Precinct 5, retiring after twenty years.  His son, Billy Wayne followed in his father’s footsteps in law enforcement and also retired from Houston.

Wendell was united in marriage with Dorothy Lowry in July 1965 in Austin. They enjoyed going dancing as well as going to casinos in Louisiana.

Buster and Dorothy had already moved to Kosse while he was still working in Houston.   She remained in Kosse all week while he came home from Houston on weekends until he retired.   Dorothy especially loved going to Boosier City to play the slots, and was lucky in winning, so they continued going once a month as long as their health permitted.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Kosse, and attended the Lodge meetings until no longer able due to his health.

Buster was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 47 years, Dorothy in 2012; and a grandson, B.J. Jordan.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Billy Wayne and Linda Jordan of Houston; step-daughter, Carol Marcus of Kosse; a sister and brother-in-law, Ginger and Jack Foshee of Kosse; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Linda Jordan of Victoria; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
