Wiley Thomas "Tommy" Bridges of Cypress, passed away at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Waco, Texas on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at age 81.

Wiley was born August 2, 1943, to Jessie Woodrow Bridges and Helen Caroline Hossack in Meeker, Colorado.

He grew up in Dallas, Texas. He attended Rylie High School and graduated in 1962; and was voted most popular. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served from 1962 to 1966. Wiley then went on to attend and graduate from Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas.

Wiley joined the Houston Police Department on January 18, 1971, Academy Class #48. Throughout his career, he was assigned to the Northwest Division, Central Division, South Central Division, and the Auto Theft Division, until his retirement on November 27, 2001.

He enjoyed watching and attending Nascar Races, flying r/c planes at Bomber Field, and doing crossword puzzles.

Wiley was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Helen Bridges, and sister, Carolyne Kirkpatrick.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and James Black Jr of Kosse, Texas; and son, Wiley Thomas "Tom" Bridges Jr of Cypress, Texas; and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
